Day 1 – Day 1: Skopje - Gorno Nerezi

Welcome to Macedonia! Upon your arrival at Skopje's airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel. After settling in, embark on a brief introductory tour around your hotel area, guided by our knowledgeable tour guide. The day's sightseeing tour includes a visit to the old railway station, the first of its kind in the Balkans, and the statue of Mother Teresa. You'll also visit the Stone Bridge, the Church of St. Spas, and the Fortress Kale. A cable car ride will take you to the top of the mountain Vodno to see the Millennium Cross. From there, we'll head to the village of Gorno Nerezi to visit the 12th-century Monastery of St. Pantelejmon. The day concludes with a visit to the canyon Matka, a boat trip across the river, and a visit to the cave Vrelo and the Church of St. Andreja. Overnight stay will be in Skopje.

After a leisurely breakfast, we'll drive west to Mavrovo. Here, you'll enjoy a walking tour of Mavrovo National Park, one of Macedonia's most attractive tourist centres. We'll also visit the famous village of Galichnik and the Monastery of Sveti Jovan Bigorski. After some free time for a snack, we'll head to Ohrid. Our tour in Ohrid starts at the statue of Ss. Cyril and Methodius and includes visits to the National Museum of Ohrid, the Church of St Sophia, the Roman amphitheatre, and more. The day ends with a walk through Ohrid's marketplace. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Ohrid.

After breakfast, we'll visit the beautiful Monastery of St Naum. Here, you'll see the original church of the Holy Archangels, built in the early 10th century. After a short walking tour, we'll have lunch at a restaurant with a lovely view of the lake. In the afternoon, we'll drive back to Skopje. Enjoy a dinner in a local restaurant with folk music. Overnight stay will be in Skopje.
