Today, you'll ride the Transfagarasan Highway, one of Europe's most challenging and winding roads. Built as a military route by the communist dictator Ceausescu between 1970 and 1974, this road snakes up into the Carpathians, offering an exhilarating ride and spectacular views. Your next destination is the city of Curtea de Arges, known for its beautiful Byzantine-style Monastery with Moorish arabesques.
