What should I expect from a B&B?
B&Bs are traditionally small family owned and run properties offering a handful of guest rooms. They are usually residential properties, so they tend to be located on the outskirts of towns and you should be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk to local facilities like pubs and restaurants.
It’s unusual for a B&B to offer any additional services like concierge, porterage, evening meals or room-service. Wi-fi is usually, but not always available and it’s worth bearing in mind that access can be unreliable in more remote locations.
If you have difficulty with stairs, please request a ground-floor room as lifts will not be available in this type of property.

Hotels vary in size but tend to be larger properties run by a team of staff. They usually have a relatively central location but may be up to a 20-30 minute walk from local facilities. They are often housed in traditional old buildings and bathrooms are always for private use and are typically en-suite.
The services and facilities offered by hotels varies considerably so you should make a special request at the time of booking if you expect anything specific such as concierge, porterage, bar, restaurant, room service etc. Wi-fi may only be available in communal areas and access can be unreliable in remote locations.

Day 1 – Day 1: Kingdom of Fife to Grantown-on-Spey

We begin our journey heading north through the Kingdom of Fife, making our first stop at the modern Lindores Abbey Distillery, built on the site of the country's first recorded distiller. As we continue north, prepare for a scenic drive through the UK's largest National Park, the Cairngorms. We'll stop in the charming village of Braemar for lunch and exploration. Our next destination is the Whisky Castle, a whisky emporium boasting over 600 malts. After a tasting session, we'll continue through the Cairngorms National Park, finally reaching Grantown-on-Spey, where we'll spend two nights.
Day 2 – Day 2: Whisky Trail in Speyside

Day two is all about whisky. We'll spend the day exploring Scotland's most famous whisky region. Our first stop is the Cardhu Distillery, the first distillery pioneered by a woman. After lunch in Aberlour, we'll travel along the Spey River to Craigellachie for a visit to the Speyside Cooperage. We'll then head to Glen Moray, where you can try whisky matured in a wide selection of casks. If time permits, we'll stop at Sueno's Stone for a quick photo before heading back to Grantown-on-Spey.
Day 3 – Day 3: From Highlands to Edinburgh

On the final day, we'll start with a whisky and chocolate tasting at Dalwhinnie Distillery, set in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. We'll then journey south to Pitlochry, a beautiful town in the heart of Scotland, where you'll have time to explore and have lunch. Next, we'll stop for a walk in the Hermitage, a lovely forest with a roaring waterfall. We'll then visit the stunning village of Dunkeld before heading to our final whisky experience of the tour. We'll end the day by crossing the Firth of Forth, taking in the magnificent South Queensferry bridges, and heading back into Edinburgh.
