What should I expect from a B&B?
B&Bs are traditionally small family owned and run properties offering a handful of guest rooms. They are usually residential properties, so they tend to be located on the outskirts of towns and you should be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk to local facilities like pubs and restaurants.
It’s unusual for a B&B to offer any additional services like concierge, porterage, evening meals or room-service. Wi-fi is usually, but not always available and it’s worth bearing in mind that access can be unreliable in more remote locations.
If you have difficulty with stairs, please request a ground-floor room as lifts will not be available in this type of property.

Today, you have the freedom to explore York at your own pace. Discover the medieval heart of this ancient city, visit a chocolate museum, or stroll along the historic walls. Alternatively, join your guide for a half-day excursion to the breathtaking North York Moors National Park. Visit the charming town of Whitby, famous for its connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula, and then head to the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay. Return to York in the early evening to enjoy its vibrant atmosphere.

Departing from York, you will head west into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As you travel through the Northern Dales, you will witness the region's vibrant cattle trade. The journey continues into the remote hills of the Yorkshire Dales before descending into the lively market town of Keswick, where you will have free time to explore and settle into your accommodation.

After a hearty breakfast, you will visit the enigmatic Castlerigg standing stones, believed to be over 5,000 years old. Next, you will travel to the serene shores of Ullswater, where a forest walk will lead you to the impressive Aira Force waterfall. Continuing south, you will traverse the winding Kirkstone Pass to reach Lake Windermere. Here, you can opt for a relaxing cruise or enjoy lunch with a view. The journey then takes you to the picturesque village of Hawkshead, followed by a visit to Grasmere, where you can explore Wordsworth's Dove Cottage or the tranquil Daffodil Garden. Return to Keswick in the late afternoon.
