Embark on a six-day immersive journey through the enchanting landscapes of Scotland. This multi-day tour offers a unique blend of volunteering, cultural immersion, and exploration of the breathtaking Isle of Skye. Starting from Inverness, we traverse the world-renowned Loch Ness, cross the Skye Bridge, and delve into the rich history and mythology of the Isle of Skye. The tour includes hands-on forest conservation work, a visit to the magical Fairy Pools, Gaelic language learning, and a tour of a local distillery. We conclude our journey with a visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle before returning to Inverness. This tour is a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and meaningful contribution to the local community.

Day 1 – Day 1: Inverness to Portree

Our journey begins in Inverness, from where we drive along the famous Loch Ness towards the west coast. We cross the Skye Bridge, learning about the history and mythology of the Isle of Skye. Our first day is spent working in the Tormore Community Forest, after which we head to our accommodation in Portree.
Day 2 – Day 2: Exploring Skye

After a hearty Scottish breakfast, we drive past the jagged Cuillin Mountain Range, hearing tales of Clan feuds and warfare. We spend the morning planting trees and repairing paths. After lunch, we visit the magical Fairy Pools, a series of natural waterfalls against the backdrop of the striking Cuillin mountains. We return to Portree in the early evening.

Our day begins with more volunteering in the forest. In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves in the local culture at the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. We learn some basic Gaelic phrases and about the use of tree names in the Gaelic alphabet.

We balance our morning's physical effort with a laid-back afternoon exploring Sleat’s hidden beaches and rocky shorelines. We enjoy a scenic walk to the southernmost point of Skye, passing a stunning white sandy beach with turquoise waters. We continue to the modern lighthouse and enjoy fantastic views out to the small isles of Rum, Canna, and Eigg. On the way home, we stop at some art galleries and local shops.
Day 5 – Day 5: Distillery Visit

Our morning volunteering on the Isle of Skye is rewarded with a visit to the Torabhaig Distillery, the second-ever licensed Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery on the Isle of Skye. We take a tour, learn the secrets of the 'water of life', and toast to our hard work.
Day 6 – Day 6: Farewell to Skye

We spend our final morning adding the finishing touches to our project before bidding farewell to Skye. We make the return journey over the Skye Bridge to view the iconic Eilean Donan Castle before winding through the stunning Highland scenery and returning to Inverness in the late afternoon.
