Day 1 – Day 1: Edinburgh to Inverness

We kick off our journey from Edinburgh at 9:00 AM, heading west to the charming conservation village of Luss, nestled on the 'Bonny Bonny Banks' of Loch Lomond. We then venture into the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor, passing the Black Mount and the dramatic Glencoe, the site of the infamous 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan. Here, we take a leisurely walk to absorb the haunting beauty of this glen. Our journey continues north towards Fort William, home to Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. After a delightful lunch in the Fort William area, we trace the 24-mile shoreline of Loch Ness, passing the historic Urquhart Castle, before reaching Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, in the early evening.

The second day of our tour offers a flexible itinerary. We may start by visiting the intriguing Culloden Battlefield, where Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites were defeated by the Duke of Cumberland. We also get a glimpse of the ancient stones of the Neolithic Clava Cairns. There's an opportunity for a visit and whisky tasting at the Dalwhinnie Distillery. After a lunch stop in the ski resort area of Aviemore, we head south to visit the old military garrison of Ruthven Barracks, built by General Wade. We continue our return journey via The Hermitage, stopping for a gentle forest walk in idyllic Scottish woodland, before we cross the Forth Bridges, back to Edinburgh.
