Embark on an exhilarating 6-day journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland and Italy on our 'Tour du Cervin'. This multi-day tour offers an unforgettable experience of hiking through high mountain pastures, crossing linguistic boundaries, and witnessing awe-inspiring 4000m peaks. The tour includes a mix of challenging ascents and descents, glacier crossings, and a cable car ride, all while soaking in the stunning views of the Matterhorn. Each day concludes with a comfortable overnight stay in a charming village or a cozy hut. This tour is perfect for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike, promising a unique blend of physical challenge, natural beauty, and cultural immersion.

5 breakfasts, 6 lunches, 5 dinners (does not include drinks) – continental breakfasts are served and usually consist of breads, jams, coffee, tea and juices. Lunch is picnic style - (Swiss cheese, cold cuts, vegetables and fresh fruit). Dinner will consist of 2 or 3 courses which may include regional specialties (eg Fondu or Rösti)

5 nights accommodation in mountain refuges / gîte hostels on a dormitory share basis (upgrade to 1 night dorms, 4 nights double rooms - supplement applies)
Accommodation is dormitory style in mountain refuges or gîte hostels. There can be up to 40 people in one room in some refuges but less on most nights (around 10-12). Beds are often bunks but can also be one long platform with separate mattresses. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. Swiss refuges tend to be surprisingly comfortable.

Day 1 – Day 1: St Niklaus to Grüben

We kick off our adventure in St Niklaus, where we meet our guide and fellow travelers. Our first day is a challenging one as we ascend across high mountain pastures, soaking in the magnificent views of the 4000m peaks from Saas-Fee village. We continue our ascent to the Augsbordpass pass, before descending into the enchanting Turtmann Valley. Our day concludes in the quaint village of Grüben, where we rest for the night.

Our second day takes us to the high mountain pasture of Chalteberg, where we enjoy a breathtaking view over the Turtmann Glacier. We cross either the Forcletaz Pass or Meidpass, marking the linguistic boundary between German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland. Our journey continues through the high mountain pastures of Nava and Barneuza, and we visit the charming villages of Zinal and Grimmentz. We end our day in the picturesque village of St Jean.

Day three takes us along the stunning Moiry Lake and up to the Tsaté Pass. This day is filled with numerous ascents and descents, leading us to Haudères in the Val d'Hérens. As we walk through the flowered meadows, we are surrounded by the famous peaks of Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Weisshorn, and Dent Blanche. Our day ends in the charming village of Haudères.

On the fourth day, we journey to the Bertol hut and the Plan de Bertol, which offers a stunning view of the Arolla Glacier. We cross the glacier and follow the historic road that once connected two valleys, used by caravans between Switzerland and Italy. We enter the Aosta valley and arrive at the Italian hamlet of Prarayer, where we spend the night.

Day five takes us on a wild and alpine stage, far from the modern world. We reach the pass of Valcournera and follow a magnificent waterfall to the village of Cignana. Here, we are greeted by the majestic view of the Matterhorn. We spend the night at the foot of the limestone pyramid.

On the final day, we ascend by cable car to the Théodule pass, which brings us back into Switzerland. We enjoy views of the Matterhorn all day as we descend using the most famous passage of the western Alps and arrive at the resort town of Zermatt. Depending on fitness and weather conditions, there may be an option to ascend the summit of Breithorn. Those not ascending will descend with the walking guide. Our tour concludes in the pedestrian zone of Zermatt.
