Full-Day Land Rover Safari from Heraklion with Lunch

We had Kostos as a guide. Great personality and knowledgeable. Riding up the mountainside was great, stop for snacks in a small village, see goats and sheep, and stop for lunch. Well worth the day.

One con was that Kostos missed several key potholes; his driving was too good for the road.

Highest compliments to Safari Club for an amazing trip into the interior of Crete. Our driver, George, was an amazing guide and driver.

He showed us the other Crete, far from the tourist spots along the coast. The coastal spots are justly proud of their beauty and history. The interior of Crete is a vision to behold. The topography is stunning. We got to meet a shepherd who makes goat cheese the traditional way, and we got to meet his goats. We saw a tree in Krasi frequented by writers like Niko Kazantzskis. And we got a history lesson on the struggles of the local inhabitants to simply live their lives. George was a wealth of knowledge on the various local views and customs when queried about a local spot. The off-roading was awesome. This trip was exactly what I was hoping for and more.

We booked this trip for October 9, 2024. We learned shortly before arriving in Greece the Cave of Zeus tour was closed, however, our guide Kosta more than made up for it!

We were picked up first, so from the very beginning he regaled us with his knowledge and history of his home; little nuggets of information that gave us a better understanding of Crete's rich history.

The island has so many hidden gems. We loved the random stops to see nuts, fruit, vegetables, even seasoning growing along the road. Feed the goats! We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh food and drinks served at lunch. They waste NOTHING, even leftover lunch was put to good use. Thank you for a memorable visit to the beautiful island of Crete.

Highly recommend this tour for couples, families, and groups! You won't be disappointed.

NOTE: if you're a taller person (above 6"): it can be a tight fit for the day in the jeep. Still fun, but if a full tour - tight!

This has been one of my favourite excursions whilst on holiday. I enjoyed learning about Crete culture, and our guide was a natural, very informative and friendly. The views from the top of the mountain were amazing and we loved the cave, it nearly kills your walking up to it in the heat but its worth it. The oldest tree was lovely too and the guide was happy to take photos. I learned so much that day and feel the safari is worth the cost 100%. The lunch was also nice and you get to try some local cheese and olive oil. We went for the air conditioned vehicle rather the land rover as it was around 38 degrees that day.

Amazing tour on the Minoan Route with our guide, Darrel. We had a great time with Darrel who is very knowledgeable, answered any questions we had and made the whole tour such a fun day. The views on top of the mountains were spectacular. The villages we stopped at along the way, as well as the taverna lunch, were incredible. A fantastic trip we look forward to experiencing again!

Great day , Darrell was our driver , very knowledgeable about Crete , made our day real fun , had our 14 and 16 Yr old grandsons with and even they enjoyed the experience. Darrell took some fun family photos of each family treasured memories. We stopped for lunch at a local Taverna the food was fabulous and plenty of it with friendly locals .Would thoroughly recommend the trip get to see a lot and hear fascinating facts about Crete.

Mike (aka Sniper) was absolutely phenomenal while hosting our guided tour - he was funny, lively and very knowledgable about the local area, and took us up the mountains in the 4x4 to see some incredible views. Listening to ABBA near the peak of a mountain was something I'll never forget - the experience was brilliant, and Mike really added the cherry on top!

Me and my partner had a full day with 5 others, guided by an English guy named Darrel.

He was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about local traditions and practices.

Plenty of raki was readily available lol, and cretan foods and cheeses.

And the lunch was extremely tasty.

All in all, it was a brilliant day with a brilliant guide.

We had a great day with our tour guide Geoff. Informative, funny and friendly, he packed a lot into the day. Stopping on the roadside to pick herbs, at an olive oil factory to see the process, going through various little villages and then to the Lassithi plateau where the views are breathtaking. And of course a rather splendid lunch! Geoff was keen to give us a sense of Crete away from the holiday centres, and he did. It was a great day we can thoroughly recommend.

We did our tour and our driver/ tour guide Geoff, he was informative, funny and friendly. Any questions he would answer. He took us on the tour which was amazing hearing things on the way and meeting goats where we got to try two types of cheese which is amazing. Geoff also showed us different things and told us all about them which j have learnt about. We also got to take the food of greece which was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone especially if you have Geoff thank you for a great experience
