Northern Explorer

Welcome to the vibrant city of Amsterdam, the starting point of our Northern Explorer tour. After checking in at the hotel, we'll head out to experience the beautiful Dutch countryside. We'll visit a local farm where you'll witness the traditional making of clogs and cheese. Later in the evening, we'll embark on a canal cruise, one of the best ways to see this amazing city and its sights. We'll wrap up the day with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. The rest of the night is free for you to explore Amsterdam at your leisure.

We'll depart Amsterdam and head towards Germany, arriving in the bustling city of Hamburg in the late afternoon. Here, we'll embark on an orientation tour, exploring the city's impressive harbour and over 50 museums. After the tour, you'll have some free time to grab dinner and explore the city further. Later, we'll continue our journey to our accommodation in a quaint town in Northern Germany.

Today, we'll journey to Scandinavia, crossing the border into Denmark and heading towards the Danish capital, Copenhagen. En route, we'll visit Odense, the birthplace of fairytale author Hans Christian Andersen. Upon arrival in Copenhagen, we'll embark on an orientation tour of the city, showcasing why this charming city has been voted one of the world's most liveable so many years in a row.

We'll depart Copenhagen and take a short drive to the port town of Helsingør, home to Kronborg Castle, the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. From here, we'll take a short ferry ride to Sweden, followed by a scenic drive through the stunning rural Swedish scenery to Gothenburg, Sweden's second city. After a brief tour of Gothenburg, we'll cross the border into Norway and travel north to Oslo, the capital city full of Scandinavian culture and charm.

Today, we'll explore Oslo, starting with a locally guided tour of Norway's cool, compact and captivating capital city. A local expert will showcase the city's highlights including Akershus Castle, the Royal Palace and the Oslo Opera House. After the city tour, the rest of the day is free for you to explore at your own pace. You can visit one of the city's famous museums or galleries, stroll around town admiring the architecture or choose a local spot to enjoy lunch and dinner.

Today, we'll bid farewell to Norway and travel back to Sweden. We'll pass through various landscapes, including Karlstad on the shores of Lake Vänern, before arriving in Örebro for lunch. After lunch, we'll visit Sigtuna, the oldest town in Sweden, before continuing to Stockholm, Sweden's gorgeous capital. In the evening, we'll absorb the vibrant atmosphere of the Scandinavian capital city and enjoy an included dinner with the group.

Today, we'll discover the highlights of Stockholm. A local guide will take us around the city, showcasing the Royal Palace, the AF Chapman Ship and the old town Gamla Stan. From lunchtime onwards, you'll have free time to explore the city at your own pace. You can relax in one of Stockholm's green spaces or sample some local cuisine.

This morning, you'll have some free time to explore Stockholm before we travel to our next destination - Finland! In the afternoon, we'll take an overnight ferry, arriving in Helsinki, the Finnish capital, the following morning.

We'll arrive in Helsinki in the late morning and head off on a city tour with a local guide. You'll see the highlights of Helsinki including the Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to explore the Finnish capital at your own pace. You can visit the city's must-see attractions or simply relax and soak up the spectacular views and architecture. We'll wrap up the day with an included dinner.

Today, we'll travel to the Baltic States, starting with a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia. Tallinn is one of Europe's most enchanting cities, with a strong medieval influence combined with modern structures. After an included group lunch at a local restaurant, we'll explore the city with a local guide, visiting the UNESCO-listed historic centre, Town Hall Square, St Olav's Church and more.

We'll depart Tallinn and head towards Riga, Latvia's capital city. En route, we'll stop at the scenic resort town of Pärnu in Estonia and the seaside town of Saulkrasti in Latvia. We'll also visit the Latvian Military Cemetery, dedicated to the soldiers who fought in WWI. Upon arrival in Riga, we'll embark on an orientation tour of the city, exploring its most notable landmarks and sights.

Today, we'll travel to Lithuania, stopping at the Hill of Crosses, a pilgrimage site with around 100,000 crosses. We'll then continue to Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, where we'll embark on an orientation tour of the city. Vilnius exudes Old Town charm and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's an intriguing city to discover.

After breakfast, we'll travel to Trakai National Park, home to the iconic brick-built castle at its centre. We'll then head towards the Polish border, stopping in Warsaw, the cultural hub of Poland. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a driving tour of the city, seeing some famous landmarks including Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie.

Today, we'll explore Warsaw's Old Town with a local guide, seeing the bustling square at the heart of the old town. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. You can visit some of the city's highly regarded museums, such as the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the Chopin Museum, or the extensive collections of the National Museum.

Today, we'll travel west through Poland, stopping in Poznań, a city famous for its historic old town. We'll then cross the border into Germany and continue to Berlin, the German capital. Upon arrival, we'll take a driving tour through the city, seeing some famous landmarks including Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie.

Today is a free day in Berlin. You can revisit some of the sights from yesterday's driving tour, or strike out on your own to discover more of the city for yourself. Berlin offers an incredibly vibrant nightlife complete with bars, clubs and shows - from theatre to cabaret.

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Berlin and travel back to the Netherlands, enjoying the beautiful German and Dutch landscapes during the drive. We'll arrive back at the Amsterdam hotel for tonight, and the evening is free for you to do as you wish. To celebrate the last night of the tour, you can join in for the optional farewell dinner.
