Day 1 – Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul

Welcome to Turkey! Upon your arrival at Istanbul Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in the historic district of Sultanahmet. We recommend arriving a day or two earlier or extending your stay to fully experience the wonders of Istanbul. The rest of the day is yours to relax and settle in.

Begin your day with a guided tour of Istanbul's old city. Visit the stunning Blue Mosque, known for its blue Iznik tiles and unique six minarets, and the historic Hippodrome, once the scene of chariot races in Byzantine times. Explore the exterior of the Hagia Sophia, constructed as a Basilica in the 6th century, and the Topkapi Palace. Discover the Underground Cistern, an ancient water tank adorned with Corinthian columns and a puzzling head of Medusa. Please note that some sites may be closed on certain days.

Today, we journey to the Gallipoli Peninsula, a significant site of the First World War. Here, you'll visit the poignant war memorials, including the national memorials of Australia and New Zealand, Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair. Explore the carefully tended cemeteries and the remains of the trenches, and pay your respects at ANZAC Cove. Our guided tour will provide you with a deeper understanding of the history and legacy of the ANZACs.

Start your day early as we continue to the ancient city of Troy. Familiarize yourself with the legends of Paris, Helen, Hector, Agamemnon, and Achilles as you explore the ruins and see a replica of the Trojan wooden horse. After the tour, enjoy some leisure time in Canakkale until the evening when you will be transferred back to Istanbul.
