This morning, we'll depart from Cappadocia and head to Ankara for our direct flight to Van. Upon arrival, you'll meet your tour guide and explore the Citadel with its three thousand Urartian fortress of Van. You'll also witness an extraordinary sunset before heading to your boutique hotel in Van.

After breakfast, we'll travel by ferry to Akdamar Island to see a spectacular 10th-century church. If time allows, you can swim in Lake Van. Then, we'll visit the largest Urartu Museum in the world, where artifacts from various historical periods are exhibited. We'll also visit the Van Cat House, home to the unique Van cats. We'll continue our journey north, skirting around the western edge of Mt Ararat, one of the world's great natural spectacles. We'll explore the ruins of the city, including several churches, the Cathedral of Ani, the citadel, and a mosque. In the afternoon, we'll visit the 12 Apostles Church and Kars Castle.
