Described is the normal accommodation that we use on this tour. At the time of booking please be aware that other places might be used instead, if these choices are full or closed for whatever reason. Rooms generally do not have baths. The main reason being that they take up a lot of space, some hotels/guesthouses may have a separate room in the house where a bath is available to guests, but in the main it is showers.

Day 1 – Day 1: Arrival in Ilkley

Begin your journey in the charming town of Ilkley. Opt for a leisurely walk to the Cow and Calf Rocks and Ilkley Moor, where you'll find the tiny Victorian spa, White Well. If you're lucky, you might catch the teashop open for a warm cup of tea. Explore the town's local family shops and cafes, and don't miss the chance to visit the All Saints Church, built on a Roman fort site. End your day with a comfortable stay at the Victorian Riverside Hotel (or similar), a pub hotel known for its delicious food and picturesque river views.

Day two takes you on a beautiful walk along the River Wharfe to the well-preserved Bolton Abbey. Cross the river to the Duke of Devonshire's estate and into the stunning Strid Woods. Take a detour to the village of Appletreewick, known for its local stone houses and two inviting pubs. End your day at the 18th-century Wharf View Farm (or similar), where a warm welcome awaits.
Day 3 – Day 3: Grassington, Kettlewell, and Hubberhome

Day three takes you from the River Wharfe to the market town of Grassington, known for its cobbled streets and teashops. From there, head across upland fields to the old lead mining village of Kettlewell, the setting for the film 'Calendar Girls'. End your day in the riverside village of Hubberhome, where you'll stay at The George Inn (or similar), a cozy inn with local ales to sample.
Day 4 – Day 4: Beckermonds, Dentdale, and Cowgill

Day four is your most challenging walk. Follow the Wharfe to its source at Beckermonds, then climb up and out of Wharfedale over Cam Fell. Descend along a former Roman road, cross the Pennine Way Footpath, and enter Dentdale. Marvel at the magnificent Ribblehead Viaduct before descending to the quiet village of Cowgill. Your accommodation for the night is the 17th-century Sportsman Inn (or similar), offering authentic rustic charm.
Day 5 – Day 5: Dentdale to Sedbergh
Day 5: Dentdale to Sedbergh
Day five takes you through Dentdale to Sedbergh, located at the foot of the steep Howgill Fells. Stop by the village of Dent, known for its grey limestone buildings and cobbled streets. Explore the local teashops and the George and Dragon pub, which serves ale crafted by the nearby Dent Brewery. End your day in Sedbergh, England's book town, where you'll stay at The Dalesman Inn (or similar).
Day 6 – Day 6: Sedbergh to Burneside

Day six takes you from Sedbergh to Burneside, following the River Lune and passing several Victorian-era viaducts. Marvel at the 500-year-old parabolic arch bridge at Crook of Lune and the 14th-century Burneside Hall. Arrive in Burneside, an industrial village dominated by a paper mill. Your accommodation for the night will be in one of the local establishments in Burneside.
Day 7 – Day 7: Burneside to Bowness on Windermere
Day 7: Burneside to Bowness on Windermere
Day seven takes you from Burneside to Bowness on Windermere. Follow the River Kent to Staveley, passing former mill areas along the way. Take a break in Staveley, an attractive village with an interesting bell tower. The walk then takes you through increasingly rural and wilder areas, offering a great Lakeland panorama. Finally, descend into Bowness on Windermere, a tourist town on the lakeside.
