We stay at the comfortable and inviting Glaramara House located in the heart of the Northern Lake District on the doorstep of the fells amongst some outstanding scenery. All of the rooms are en-suite and recently refurbished to a good standard. There is ample parking, a restaurant, lounge and a bar with real ales and plenty of wines. There are log fires, Wi-Fi and a drying room for wet gear.

All breakfasts, picnic lunches and dinners are included. Meals are prepared using local in-season ingredients. The hotels caters to most diets and have a range of vegetarian options.

Begin your journey in the peaceful hamlet of Seatoller. Check into your comfortable hotel nestled in the Borrowdale Valley, offering stunning views of the surrounding fells. From 3 pm, you can settle into your room and explore the nearby hiking trails. At 6 pm, join your tour leader and fellow guests for an introductory briefing and dinner.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a 6-hour hike through open countryside. Ascend to a mountain pass overlooking Dale Head and continue up to High Spy. Ramble along the ridge to reach Maiden Moor and Cat Bells, where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of Derwent Water and the surrounding peaks. Descend to the valley floor and walk to Keswick, a charming market town with a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 3: Exploring Buttermere Lake and Surrounding Peaks

After a short drive from the hotel, start your hike towards the imposing band of rocks standing like a fortress. Ascend to the top of Haystacks, offering fabulous views across Ennerdale Valley and the great peaks of Pillar and Great Gable. Continue towards High Crag on the Red Pike Ridge before descending along a different route with beautiful views of Buttermere and Crummock Water. The moderately-graded walk will take approximately 5-6 hours.

Today's hike is the most challenging of the week, taking you to the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Starting from the hamlet of Seathwaite, follow the river to the 18th-century packhorse Stockley Bridge and continue beside Grains Ghyll to the impressive gullies of Great End. Ascend through heather and grasslands to reach the summit plateau of Scafell Pike. Enjoy outstanding views of Moasdale, Wast Water, the Irish Sea, and the Southern Lakes. Descend steeply to join the classic Corridor Route, leading you past Styhead Tarn and back to the start point.

Day 5 – Day 5: Circular Hike in Keswick

Drive a short distance back to Keswick to start your circular hike. Cross the River Greta and climb through the forest on the Cumbria Way. Pause at Latrigg to enjoy the stunning views over Keswick, Derwent Water, Skiddaw, and Blencathra. Continue up above Latrigg and on to Lonscale Craggs. Your return route takes you through Brindholme Wood and along the dismantled railway, crossing the river several times. End back in Keswick with time for visits to teashops and pubs before driving back to the hotel.

Day 6: Stonethwaite to Grasmere Hike

For the final walk of the holiday, take a short bus ride to the picturesque hamlet of Stonethwaite. Start your hike by crossing the river and following the path south next to the river. Gradually gain height as you head towards a small pass at Greenup Edge, just under High Raise. Enjoy the wide views of the valley and hike amongst the hills of Grasmere Common. Visit the beautiful Easedale Tarn before heading into Grasmere, a village associated with the Lake Poets, most notably William Wordsworth. Finally, drive back to your hotel.
