Disko Bay - Paradise of Icebergs

Begin your journey with a flight from Keflavik or Copenhagen to the west coast of Greenland, landing in the town of Kangerlussuaq. Upon arrival, you'll have the option to explore the stunning Greenlandic ice sheet before being transferred to the harbor for embarkation. Settle into your cabin on the ship and spend the evening traversing the 160-kilometer-long Kangerlussuaq Fjord. Overnight stay on board.

Today, you'll reach the vibrant town of Sisimiut, where you'll get a glimpse of modern Greenland. Explore the historic colonial quarter, the local museum, and the beautiful church. In the afternoon, continue your journey north, passing the Sisimiut-Isortuat Fjord and the settlements of Attu, Ikerasaarsuk, and Kangaatsiaq. As night falls, you'll enter the southern waters of Disko Bay and set course for Disko Island, known for its striking 1000 meter high layered cliffs. Overnight stay on board.

Your next stop is at the southern tip of Disko Island, in the town of Qeqertarsuaq. This town has a rich history, with whale hunting bringing prosperity in the 18th and 19th centuries. Visit the characteristic octagonal church and the local community center, where a traditional Greenlandic 'kaffemik' is held. Later in the day, set a north-easterly course for the magnificent Eqip Sermia glacier, known for its breathtaking beauty. Sail as close as possible to the edge of the ice, but at a safe distance from calving glaciers and sometimes violent waves. Overnight stay on board.

Wake up to find yourself almost 600 km north of the Arctic Circle in one of the most beautiful and sunniest regions of Greenland. You've reached Uummannaq, a town located on a small island and dominated by an impressive, 1,175 m high, heart-shaped mountain. Spend time exploring the town and enjoy the extraordinary views of the 1,000-metre-high rock faces of the island, the snow-capped peaks of the Nuussuaq peninsula, and the fjord filled with drifting icebergs. In the morning, the ship reaches the magnificent Eqip Sermia glacier. Enjoy lunch on the sun deck with this natural wonder as your backdrop. In the afternoon, set course for Ilulissat, where you'll moor in the evening and take an evening walk to the Sermermiut plain. Depending on the sea ice conditions, the captain may choose a different route today, potentially visiting the abandoned coal mine in Qullissat or the settlement of Saqqaq. Overnight stay on board.

Spend the day in Ilulissat, a town that sits in the shadow of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sermeq-Kujalleq glacier. You'll have the opportunity to take a boat trip to the ice fjord or a sightseeing flight over the ice fjord (both optional and at additional cost). In the evening, sail southwards from the 'capital of icebergs'. Overnight stay on board.

Today, visit the small settlement of Sarfannguit, nestled in the foothills of the mountains and glaciers. The inhabitants here are hunters and fishermen who maintain their traditional customs and Inuit heritage. Continue your journey towards the Kangerlussuaq Fjord, also known as the Sondre Stream Fjord, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views of the high mountains. Overnight stay on board.

During the night, the ship completes the passage through the 160-kilometer-long Kangerlussuaq Fjord. After breakfast, disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to Keflavik or Copenhagen. From here, you'll begin your journey home, taking with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in Greenland.
