We start our journey from our meeting point at Bræðraborg Café in Ísafjörður at 8:00 AM. We then take a ferry to our farmhouse in Kvíar. After a brief orientation, we set off on our kayaking adventure, paddling across the bay to the south side near Höfði. We take in the stunning views of Leirufjörður Fjord and Drangjökull Glacier before heading along the shoreline towards Grunnavík Bay. We camp on the beach after covering a distance of 20 km.

Day 2: Grunnavík Bay to Ytraskarð
On the second day, we paddle out of the Jökulfirðir fjord system and into the vast bay of Ísafjarðardjúp. We pass by several beautiful waterfalls that are rarely seen due to their inaccessibility. We continue along the coast of Snæfjallaströnd and camp either in the beautiful cove in Ytraskarð or by the breathtaking Möngufoss waterfall, depending on conditions. We end the day with a campfire on the beach, watching the beautiful sunset.

On the final day of kayaking, we first stop at the island of Æðey, inhabited by a single family during the summer months. We then cross over to the island of Vigur, known for its amazing birdlife and picturesque houses. After spending some time on the island, we paddle to Hvitanes or to the village of Súðavík, depending on weather conditions. A car picks us up and drives us back to Ísafjörður, where we recommend spending at least one night to explore this beautiful town and its surroundings.
