7 Days ABRUZZO AND TUSCANY TOUR - from Rome

We kick off our journey from Hotel Cicerone in Rome at 08:30, heading towards the Abruzzo region. Our first stop is the beautiful town of Tagliacozzo, known for its stunning medieval buildings nestled at the foot of the Marsica mountains. We then proceed to Sulmona, the city of the poet Ovidio, where you'll be invited to taste the confetti, a traditional sweet treat. After exploring Sulmona's medieval gates, aqueduct, and charming fountains, we continue to Pescara for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we set out to explore Pescara, a modern city with a rich history. Here, you'll be invited to taste a local red or white wine. We then head to Lanciano, known for the Eucharistic miracle that took place in the 18th century. After visiting the Church of Saint Francis and the medieval center, we proceed to Ortona, a city of Roman origin famous for its beaches and the Aragonese fortress. Our day ends with a scenic tour along the Trabocchi Coast before returning to Pescara for the night.

Day three begins with a journey to L'Aquila, the capital of the region. This Roman and medieval city is famous for its Fountain of the 99 Spouts and its status as an important university center. After lunch, we traverse the Gran Sasso National Park, home to some of the highest peaks of the Apennines mountain chain, en route to Teramo. This ancient Italic and Roman city offers a fascinating blend of palaces and churches from medieval times. We'll spend the night in Teramo after a day of exploration.

Day four takes us to Tivoli, a beautiful village near Rome, known for its UNESCO World Heritage villas. We'll explore the old town, admiring medieval buildings and ancient Roman ruins. Next, we head to Orvieto, where the majestic Gothic Cathedral and the St. Patrick Well await. After lunch, we depart for Siena, a city surrounded by vineyards and colored fields. We'll spend the night in Siena, soaking in the city's vibrant atmosphere.

Day five begins with a tour of Siena, a city known for its Palio horse race and its vibrant contrade (districts). We then proceed to San Gimignano, the city of towers, where we'll explore the Piazza della Cisterna, Palazzo del Popolo, and the Church of Saint Augustine. After lunch, we head to Volterra, a city famous for its alabaster craftsmanship. We'll visit the Piazza and Palazzo dei Priori Palace, the Duomo, and the Baptistery before returning to Siena for the night.

Day six is all about wine. We'll start with a journey along the Strada del Chianti, where you'll be invited to taste Chianti, the world-renowned Italian wine. We'll visit Radda in Chianti, known for its old town and walls, and then head to Lucca, a city encircled by a perfectly preserved Renaissance wall. After lunch, we'll explore Napoleon Square, the Palace of the Province, the Duomo, and the birthplace of composer Giacomo Puccini. We return to Siena for the night.

On the final day of our tour, we'll visit an antique wine cellar in a 15th-century building in Montalcino, where you'll have the opportunity to taste the excellent red Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. We then proceed to Pienza, a city renowned for its artistic beauty and gastronomy. Our last stop is Montepulciano, an art pearl of the 1500s, famous for its wine production. After lunch, we return to Rome, marking the end of our unforgettable journey.
