Dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may be subject to security checks at the entrance of some sites. St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums are closed on Sundays, except the last Sunday of each month, unless it falls on Easter, June 29 (St. Peter and Paul's Day), or December 25 and 26 (Christmas Holidays). The Vatican Museums get very crowded during summer and before religious holidays. Photography is allowed without flash. Video recording is not permitted inside the Sistine Chapel.
