At the time of booking please be aware that other places might be used instead, if these choices are full or closed for whatever reason. Baths: Many rooms with ensuite/private facilities have a shower rather than a bath, usually because of limited space. Some hotels/guesthouses may however have a separate room in the house where a bath is available to guests.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1 – Day 1: Abbey Church and Abbotsford
Day 1: Abbey Church and Abbotsford
Start your journey with a visit to the Abbey Church, a magnificent 12th-century ruin. Here, you'll explore recent discoveries, including what is believed to be the heart of Robert the Bruce. Depending on your arrival time, you may also visit Abbotsford, the former home of Sir Walter Scott. End your day with a comfortable stay at one of the charming guesthouses or pubs in the village.
Day 2 – Day 2: Eildon Hills and Dryburgh Abbey
Day 2: Eildon Hills and Dryburgh Abbey
Begin your day with a rewarding walk over the steep-sided Eildon Hills, offering panoramic views of the Tweed valley. Descend to Newtown St Boswells and follow the banks of the Tweed to Dryburgh Abbey, the site of Sir Walter Scott's grave. Continue along the riverbank footpath to Maxton, and then along Dere Street, an ancient Roman roadway, to Harestanes visitors centre. A taxi will take you to your accommodation in Jedbergh.
Day 3 – Day 3: Harestanes to Morebattle
Day 3: Harestanes to Morebattle
Return by taxi to Harestanes and cross the River Teviot. Join the old Roman Road of Dere Street until you reach the hamlet of Crailinghall. The trail passes the tower of Cessford Castle, a 15th-century structure built by the Ker Clan. End your day in the neat Borders village of Morebattle for your overnight stay.
Day 4 – Day 4: Morebattle to Kirk Yetholm

Today's journey takes you from Morebattle across the Kale water river before ascending steeply to Wideopen Hill, where the views are truly breathtaking. Descend to stroll alongside and then cross-attractive Bowmont Water. Your day ends at Kirk Yetholm, just at the northern end of the Pennine Way.
Day 5 – Day 5: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler
Day 5: Kirk Yetholm to Wooler
Cross the border into England and traverse the northern sector of the Cheviot Hills within the Northumberland National Park. Cross the beautiful College Valley before descending to Wooler, a market town since the 13th century.
Day 6 – Day 6: Wooler to Lowick
Day 6: Wooler to Lowick
Cross the rolling terrain of Westwood and Football Moors, passing St Cuthbert's cave, where the saint's body was taken during the flight of the monks from Lindisfarne in 875AD after a Viking raid. Descend through forests and agricultural land to reach Fenwick near the main road. A transfer will take you to your accommodation in Lowick.
Day 7 – Day 7: Fenwick to Lindisfarne
Day 7: Fenwick to Lindisfarne
Start your day with a transfer back to Fenwick, from where you cross the main roads before taking the 'Fisher's Back Road' down to the causeway across the sands to Lindisfarne. Explore the island, visit the Priory ruins, and between April and September, the 16th-century castle. Your accommodation is in the only village on Holy Island.
Day 8 – Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, your memorable 8-day tour comes to an end. Depart at your leisure, taking with you the memories of an unforgettable journey through the United Kingdom's rich history and stunning landscapes.
